It Takes a Community – First Expert Dialogue on balancing narratives in South America

The It Takes a Community – ITAC Campaign – an initiative supported by the government of Canada, Ecuador, the Mayors Mechanism and the UN Migration Agency, hosted its first Expert Dialogue on Migration Narratives in South America on the 28th of February. (Listen online here in ES and EN).

Moderated by Julio Daly from Xenophobia Barometer, the Dialogue counted over 150 participants and joined Member States, cities, civil society, the private sector, development banks, communication agencies and migrants and refugees themselves to discuss context in the region, as well as possible ideas for partnership and action. On the city-side, we heard from Ms. Núria Margarit Carbassa from the city of São Paulo.

The outcomes of this meeting will feed in to the GFMD 2024 Summit preparations as well as serve to inspire ITAC social media stories.

The ITAC team is currently preparing a second Expert Dialogue as well as several Live Chats. Stay tuned on our twitter page and the ITAC website for updates!
